ALBW 2024 (Anne Lister Birthday Week)

If you're happy in your life or stuck in a rut; introverted or extroverted; whatever background/demographic or situation or circumstance, you're welcome in Halifax for Anne lister events. It's like a fun enjoyable pilgrimage!

Had to cancel last year's trip, much to our dismay. But, we are all scheduled for this year and we can hardly wait. We are so looking forward to meeting new people from everywhere. Hope you out there get scheduled, too. Everything I have heard/read is that this is a memorable event. See you there!

The event was transformative in every way! Celebrating a special sisterhood with Lister/Walker lovers was an amazing journey. I highly recommend.

Anne Lister Birthday Week is a time for community, scholarship, and overall celebration of the legacy of Anne Lister and Ann Walker. I have been to ALBW twice, in 2022 & 2023, and each time, I have made memories and visited places I never dreamed I would. ALBW allows you to have a personal & up-close experience in Halifax without worrying about feeling alone or without community. As a young adult, I have found community with individuals my age and with older adults as well. There is a place for everyone, and anyone is welcome!! No matter where you land in the LGBTQIA+ community, or if you’re an ally, you are welcomed with open arms. I’ve met my best mates who are from across the world. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Helena Whitbread & Sally Wainwright after listening to a Q&A at Halifax Minster. Visiting Shibden Hall and walking the halls that Anne Lister once did will always be a favorite memory of mine. Below, I’ve shared some of my favorite photos from both 2022 & 2023.
