Starkbierfest 2027 Gay Weekend: dates, events, hotels

Munich's famous strong beer festival, Starkbierfest, returns from 26 February to 21 March 2027, celebrating what locals call the city's "fifth season". Held between Carnival and Easter, Starkbierzeit is a Bavarian tradition centred around strong beer, lively beer halls, and plenty of celebrations.

For LGBTQ+ visitors, the highlight is the Starkbierfest Gay Weekend, taking place from 11 to 14 March 2027. Organised by the Münchner Löwen Club (MLC), the four-day gathering attracts leather and fetish enthusiasts from Germany and beyond for a weekend of parties, social events, and traditional Bavarian beer culture.

What to Expect at Starkbierfest Gay Weekend 2027

The weekend brings together Munich's gay leather and fetish community for a packed programme of gatherings, late-night parties, and special events. Much of the action takes place around Glockenbachviertel, Munich's main gay district, with its many gay bars, clubs, and saunas.

MLC also hosts events at its UnderGround club, a popular meeting place for Munich's fetish community. One of the weekend's main highlights is the election and coronation of Bavarian Mr. Fetish, bringing together contestants and supporters from across the fetish scene.

GaySunday at Augustiner-Keller

The weekend concludes with GaySunday, a men-only celebration that brings traditional Bavarian beer culture together with Munich's gay community.

Held at the famous Augustiner-Keller beer hall, the event is an opportunity to enjoy strong Bavarian beer, meet fellow festivalgoers, and celebrate alongside local and international visitors.
