Gay Bar Magical Banana is a welcoming mixed LGBTQ+ bar in Fukuoka’s Sumiyoshi area, conveniently located near Hakata, Tenjin, Nakasu and Yakuin. The bar attracts a broad crowd including gay, lesbian, trans and LGBTQ+-friendly straight guests, with many visitors coming from outside Fukuoka.

Gatten! (ガッテン!) HAKATA  is a gay karaoke bar in Fukuoka’s Sumiyoshi area known for its cheerful owners and relaxed local feel. The bar may not have English-speaking staff, but visitors regularly praise the warm welcome and easygoing conversations, even when Japanese isn’t spoken.

With karaoke at the centre of the experience, it’s a good choice for travellers looking to join in with local bar culture.

GPOP is a mixed gay bar in Fukuoka welcoming LGBTQ+ guests and anyone supportive of the community. The bar operates an all-you-can-drink system from ¥5,000, including cocktails, soft drinks, shochu and Suntory Kakubin whisky, with free karaoke included.

Guests who prefer fewer drinks can choose a ¥3,000 seat charge plus drinks instead. Non-LGBTQ+ visitors are welcome with an additional seating charge.

DAIDAI has been part of Fukuoka’s Sumiyoshi gay scene for more than 30 years. Unlike smaller neighbourhood bars, this one has a more spacious, lounge-style layout with plenty of seating, including bar stools, sofas and tables. You can also find multiple karaoke screens.
